In Romanian the definite article is attached to the end of the noun. The nominative and accusative feminine forms of the definite article are:
singular: -a
plural: -le
Feminine nouns ending in –ă
The singular definite article takes the place of the desinence.
Mama cumpără nişte flori=Mother is buying some flowers.
The plural definite article is attached directly to the noun.
Mamele sunt in casă=The mothers are in the house.
Feminine nouns ending in –e
The definite article is attached directly to the noun.
Cartea este pe masă=The book is on the table.
Cărţile sunt aici=The books are here
Feminine nouns ending in –ea
The singular definite article is attached with the help of the vowel u:
Cafeaua este pe masă=The coffee is on the table.
The plural definite article is attached directly to the noun.
Feminine nouns ending in –a
The singular definite article is attached with the help of the vowel u:
Basmaua este acolo=The kerchief is there.
The plural definite article is attached directly to the noun.
Cazmalele sunt in grădină....................The picks are in the garden.
